MEET AIDA

Lifestyle Maternity & Family Photographer

Aida is a mom of 3 daughters and is originally from Afghanistan. Her love for photography was inherited from her father, who was a cinematographer and film director for Afghan Film in the 70's. While photography has always been a part of her life, Aida has been pursuing portrait photography for 2 years and is continuing to learn to perfect her craft along the way.

In her free time, Aida loves gardening and reading on her patio swing. She is proficient in English, Farsi, Urdu and learning to speak Arabic. Photography brings much joy to her spirit and soul, a gratifying feeling that she enjoys on her own and loves to share with others. Want to learn more? View our Q & A session with Aida below!

Q & A with Aida:

In your opinion, what makes a good photograph?

Passion! I feel like passion is the key to being good at anything. If you’re passionate about what you do, you do it regardless of the challenges and setbacks. It’s the driving force that motivates me to learn as much as I can to perfect my craft.

What is the biggest challenge of being a photographer?

Impostor syndrome!! I hesitate introducing myself as a photographer sometimes! Im often questioning my abilities even though I know I’ve done a great job on a shoot. Am I really ready? Did I really take that beautiful photo my client is raving over?

What camera and lens do you shoot with?

I shoot with a Canon 5D mark iv, and I alternate between a 50mm, 70-200mm and an 85mm.

What is your favorite type of baby photo to capture?

I love capturing photos where mom and dad are snuggled with baby. I love that baby is safe with loved ones and capturing those beautiful moments of bonding truly the best.

How do you make a client feel comfortable in front of the camera?

I try to build a safe and comfortable environment for my client by making connections with them on our shared values of family and motherhood. When they are comfortable with me first, my camera becomes secondary. The overall experience becomes more honest, relaxed and enjoyable!
